It’s one of the great mysteries of life, or at least business: What exactly is PR? To a lot of people, it’s about making news. “Did you see our great PR?” Or it’s crisis management. “They have a BIG PR problem.” There is a lot more to the discipline of public relations, although even people in the industry don’t always agree on its definition.
I recently was asked to talk about all things PR on the WCM Park Update podcast, produced by Woodall’s Campground Magazine. For those of you who don’t work in the $450 billion (yes billion) outdoor recreation industry, Woodall’s is the top trade media outlet. Hosts Ben Quiggle, Woodall’s editor, and Mike Gast, former KOA comms veep, and I covered a wide range of topics that are relevant to organizations in all industries. Among them: how PR differs from advertising and social media marketing.
Ben and Mike, it was fun to chat – thanks for having the coach on!
